Re: [GSAS-Member] Plants for Topless Tank
Hey Shango,
I don't know the dimension of your 35G nor the thickness of substrate.
But I think Amazon Sword is always nice in the big tall tank IMO. And I
don't think they don't mind reach to the surface and stick out of the water. I
know some of the grower do grow them in out of water condition although they
might enclosed to have high humidity.
Also the long Val would be nice although they will never stick out the water
but they can get long and drapery when they have enough light and nutrition
which you do. And maybe you can gather the long drift wood and arrange them so
they will stick out.
And I don't know where is your tank's water line is. But if it is close to
the top and no cover, no jumpy fish please. You do not want to find the dry
fish around the tank. I had one marble hatchet jumped out from the 1' square
gap at the side of the HOB. And found dry in the morning. So Sad. Since then
I wedge the piece of Styrofoam to plug the gap.
Good luck with your new set up.

I am looking for suggestions for plants that will grow from the substrate up
and out of my topless 35Gal Tall tank.
I've got a twin bulb Coralife light with 65W, 10,000K and 6,7000K bulbs,
79-80 degree tank and I inject CO2.
I would like the plant to grow out of the tank and I would love if it would
bloom too.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Shango
