I've never had a problem with C02 hurting shrimp or fish, but I also add beach shells, small amounts of ground up cuttlebone, or small amounts of marine substrate to fix up the rain/dehumidifier water I use in my tanks. (which I do if I'm not using CO2 most of the time too). I've done tank and DIY yeast-based C02 reactors (with either bakers or brewers yeast, and sugar) which I assume are fairly similar to what you have? I've never had a problem with either Amano or Cherry Shrimp. I'm not sure how the Nutrafin system is set up, but be careful to minimize the chance that your activator/stabilizer can over-ferment and leak into your tank. It's never happened to me, but I've read a number of accounts of poisoned fish from those when the alcohol sludge bubbles up into the tank (or starts a siphon drawing it into the tank-- which shouldn't happen in a firm container...I think that's more of an issue with the pop bottle variety). > Hey gang, at the massive Blue SIerra sale this weekend (and wow, what > deals!!), I picked up an old open-topped display tank they had set up in > the > store at one point.
