FYI: The guy who did that, a Mr. Brian Toby, did so with the board's full permission back in April of 2002 (for those on the board with access to the board list archives). Was actually quite nice and rare in this age of "grab n post". Our logo was designed by Anne Pace, and was the winner of a 1996 redesign contest to replace the former logo, a complicated lionfish that did not reproduce well at low resolution. I had suggested to Anne that a good representation of the club would be a generic tropical fish, but done in the style of the native Pacific Northwest. The original was drawn on the back of a napkin. I scanned the napkin and vector-traced it using an old unix program. It now exists as a PDF and encapsulated postscript file that can be blown up arbitrarily. Rick, Steev and others have done subsequent "tweaking" to try to make the letters more visible (in my opinion, kinda destroying the look). Others, critical of the design, have cried that it looks like a salmon or an orca, but if you compare the drawing to local native art, you can really see that the finnage is totally different. Anne says the model was a Krib (yay!). - Erik On Tue, 13 Nov 2007, Matt Staroscik wrote: > Too funny. > > Even better, they are hot-linking it.
