My friend Amelya sent me this email. Does anyone have any advice for helping the kids survive? I have never raised pleco before. "So for the past week, I've been really worried about the beautiful bristle nose ancistrus you gave me. I wasn't able to find it anywhere, usually it came out at feeding time, but it seemed to disappear, which made me really sad thinking I had killed Shango's fish after only a month. So realizing it must be dead, I decided to look for the body, not wanting such a big fish decomposing in my tank. I looked everywhere, and then realized it was jammed under the tube that the ghost knife fish lives in, and when I flipped it over, dozens of baby ancistrus were everywhere. She was fine, she was just protecting her baby's, which must have just hatched and there are loads of them. I hope some of them make it...they are weird little orange blobs right now...if they make it...would you like some? So much better than having killed her. " It is a 60 gallon community tank with rainbow fish, killi, and a big knife fish.
