That Val came out of a Lake Tanganyika tank to which we mostly just put
Calcium Carbonate and Magnesium Carbonate. It also has inert substrate.
We have a 2-tube shoplight over it, retrofitted with T8 bulbs. We don't
fertilize the tank -- that seems to be the main difference in the two
environments.
