There are other available species of Anubias, and other varieties of A.
barteri available other than nana, and I believe that all can be rooted on
bogwood. I also belive that all are slow-growing and may give you the
same algae problem.
The only plant I know of that hasn't been mentioned yet is the Bolbitus
fern, Bolbitus heudelotti. The FAQ lists it as a low light plant,
however, and also that it has large leaves. I don't know if it will grow
in high light or not. So it may not fit your criteria. Also supposed to
be more picky about water conditions than Java fern. I ordered some last
time I got plants, but the place (arizona aquatic gardens) was out. I've
since seen it at the Fish Store.
