Re: [GSAS-Member] Share shipping on plants?

I have used several sites. I ordered once from aquariumplants.com and the
plants came fine, but they are nothing special. They wholesale all their
plants in from a big box place down in Florida, have them shipped into their
site fully grown, and then they ship them off. So they typically arrive
looking fine, but it seems to take them a lot longer to root and grow, since
they are just plucked out of big warehouses. They put them all in one big
bag, no matter how many varieties you ordered.

If you would rather have plants that are grown by a dedicated breeder and
who has higher quality plants, I would probably order from
http://www.freshwateraquariumplants.com/ . I have ordered from Don Matakis
there about 5 times, typically $150 orders. Typically it takes them a few
days to prepare the plants, as they put each variety in its own bag, label
it, etc. They also cost a little bit more than a place like
aquariumplants.com that just sends you a big bunch of plants in one bag. The
plants at Dons place are the best plants I have come across so far, and the
variety packs are nice because you get a mix, and he talks with you about
your type of tank, size, what you are trying to accomplish, and then creates
a variety packs with you based on your goals.
