Re: [GSAS-Member] Remove Hair Algae from Wood

Sorry to be so slow responding to this thread. I use an algae control
method recommended by a NANFA member. She is a native aquatic plants expert
(PhD). She recommends a treatment of 1oz per 10 gallons hydrogen peroxide
every two weeks. This is the stuff you get off the shelf at Safeway. Do a
20% (or more) water change before each re-treatment.

I have used this method on several tanks without non-algal or animal loss.
It will actually remove the algae from the leaves of plants. I plan to try
this treatment on a pond within 2 weeks. I will let you know the results as
soon as I know.

Subject: [GSAS-Member] Remove Hair Algae from Wood

Hello There,

Is there any secret strategy for removing thick hair algae from wood pieces?
So far I have just used rubbing and a toothbrush but that is really slow
going.

Thanks

Shango
