Sounds like a lot of Hydrogen Peroxide to dump in a pond. 100 ounces for a 1000 gal pound. Good thing it is relatively cheap. Would be interested to know the results. Especially if there are fish in the pond Clay Hess 787 Fuselage Systems Integration Manager and Team Leader 425-931-4322 ----- Original Message ----- From: Tom Watson <onefish2fish@comcast.net> To: 'Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat' <gsas-member@thekrib.com> Sent: Sun Jul 13 21:01:59 2008 Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] Remove Hair Algae from Wood Sorry to be so slow responding to this thread. I use an algae control method recommended by a NANFA member. She is a native aquatic plants expert (PhD). She recommends a treatment of 1oz per 10 gallons hydrogen peroxide every two weeks. This is the stuff you get off the shelf at Safeway. Do a 20% (or more) water change before each re-treatment. I have used this method on several tanks without non-algal or animal loss. It will actually remove the algae from the leaves of plants. I plan to try this treatment on a pond within 2 weeks. I will let you know the results as soon as I know. So far I have just used rubbing and a toothbrush but that is really slow going.
