I tend to be in the same boat. There is really no risk to the ecosystem putting something like Nymphoides peltata (which I currently covet by can't import to WA from the out-of-state mailorder sources) in a mini-pond on my patio under the deck where no waterfowl will ever go (especially with DOGS). I'm no where near any body of water either (shrug). I purchased this plant locally about 10 years ago and now can't get it (grump). It's prettier than the fringed yellow flowers on other Nympoides spp but maybe I like it better cuz I can't get it (grin).
