I agree that the sigma-Aldrich wonder twins are great for almost everything, 
however for my tanks I tend to favor local "agriculture grade" materials.  In 
particular I have found Eco Enterprises on 175th to be helpful and willing to 
sell just a pound of potassium nitrate and a "PMDD" product.  They may be worth 
calling tomorrow.

Try looking for the cheapest material (VWR lists a 90% material in a 5kg size) 
and try to buy <50kg units...
