I'm hoping that the wire covers will protect anything that's left. They are pretty sturdy and I'm hoping the gaps in the grating are narrow enough (<1/2 ")to keep him from trying for whatever is left. I have a gut feeling that there may be some survivors in the deeper stock tanks, but they are really freaked out right now. There's lots of 'cover' down deep....brick piles and waterlily containers. Fingers crossed. And the dogs have chased him both Saturday and Sunday...Adak almost got him when he was perching on the deck railing last evening. The neighbors watched the whole thing and told me Adak snuck up within inches before leaping....so he got a GOOD scare. I still can't believe he was walking around on the patio under the deck! I stopped by The Fish Store just now and picked up some gorgeous shubunkins....smaller than the ones I 'had', but some with lots of orange so I don't feel so bereft. They also had some 'maybe' female featherfin rainbows (grin)....and some celestial pearl danios (I HATE that name)for a good price so I guess the term 'retail therapy' comes to mind (grin)....
