I FINALLY replanted the vallisneria that my fish tore up well over a month ago in my main tank. It seemed to be very happy (and prolific) floating around on the top, and after replanting about 20 plantlets, I have SO many more that I don't know what to do with. I put the leftovers in a large ziploc and counted over 30 separate plantlets. They're all pretty small, no more than an inch or so long so far, but they grow very quickly when put farther from a light source than they'd like (such as at the bottom of a 75 gallon tank). I have 5 very healthy java ferns that need new homes. They were covered with brown algae when I took them out of my 29 gallon tank with fairly high lighting, regardless of how much excel I dosed. After about a month in my 10 gallon without an overhead light except for my kitchen, they are happy, healthy and show no long term damage from the algae. They range in size from about 8" tall to 2-3" tall. I have 2 julidochromis transcriptus that still need a new home. They don't get along very well in a 10 gallon tank, and they weren't happy in my cube together either, but I suspect in a tank with a larger footprint they'd be peachy keen together. These guys require hard water with high pH, and wouldn't get along with the more common Malawi cichlids, but tend to do well in most Tanganyika setups. They're rock dwellers with small mouths, so have trouble eating all but the smallest fry. I have a 5 gallon bucket that's 1/3 full of black 3m colorquartz sand in S-grade(sand sized particles). It nicely filled a 18x18" footprint tank, but wasn't overly deep. Come get any or all of these free from me. The sooner the better! I'm in Mountlake Terrace. :) _______________________________________________ GSAS-Member mailing list GSAS-Member@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-member
