I am not very familiar with ancistrus problems, but my experience with Mbuna suggests that he might have issues with an intestinal parasite if he's been stressed lately or had a particularly large diet. Adding dissolved epsom salts over the course of a few hours at the rate of 1 cup per hundred gallons for a few days may help. Is he having any whitish poo? You may consider treating the whole tank with a metrodizanole containing anti-parasitic medication if he gets worse. He has potential to infect his tankmates if it's a concern too. If I ever have a fish that I suspect of bloat, they immediately get netted and put into the hospital tank with epsom salts, and later treated with metro if they don't show improvement. If there's white poo, be sure to THOROUGHLY vac the gravel daily and do at least 50% water changes every day. If this doesn't help, you may consider posting in the illness/nutrition forum of www.cichlid-forum.com, they answer questions about all fish and are very speedy!
