[GSAS-Member] First GSAS meeting Sept. 9th

Hello Fish Fans!

It is my delight to announce the next season of GSAS! Our meeting location has
moved slightly to Miller Science Learning Center room 118 to which Meredith has
kindly posted directions. I anticipate getting lost anyways and simply joining
the crowd or following the signs. This new location should provide a more
suitable location with space for our growing crowds and room to stretch for our
popular auctions. Doors open at 7 and the meeting starts some time near 7:30
with a small auction at the end (be sure to report your summer HAP/BAP points).
I have the same work conference as last year and am unable to rush back like
last time :)

I am wretched to miss Steevâs latest installment on a series of talk featuring
cool things he has encountered in the hobby from disease to medication. I am
told this upcoming meeting will hit the major diseases (and what to do) so if
every you felt like taking notes, this is the meeting! Next month our own Phil
(LOG) with talk about the easy/cheap way to get into the saltwater hobby. I
expect the pictures alone will be worth the trip. We are working on a number
of fly in speakers to discuss interesting aspects of the hobby and a potential
field trip to the UW Fish collection.

I would like to thank a number of people that works hard last year and are
already making this year great. Shango did a great job with the summer picnic
with a perfect spot sheltered from the light rain and just the right amount of
food. I am excited about the relaunched Horticulture Award Program (HAP) with
Roy and a Breeders Award (BAP) Contest with Connie and Steev. I would like to
thank the board of last season (Susan, Meredith, Christine, unofficial Steev,
and Matt <retired>) with Phil and Margie new this year. Phil has done great at
the auctions and is already stirring up the board. I look forward to a great
next year!

-Paul (and Megan, who is taking this âterrible twoâ thing seriously)
