Thanks to everyone that responded. I think Matt's on the solution I was looking for. I was staring at the damn thing the other night thinking about how I could glue or clip fresh pads on the tray, or simulate the tray, and didn't think of it from the other direction. I'm more of an idiot than usual when it comes to mechanical things. I'm not sure that the one that came with it is salvageable, but we'll see how bleaching the livin' crap out of it helps. I think I'll expand Matt's idea to using a router to cut a little square in the bottom, so I can stuff filter floss in the cartridge.
