I just need to brag for a moment:
I happened to log on yesterday just after someone had posted a free 60 gallon
acrylic tank on craig's list. I ran across town to grab it but when I saw it
my hopes weren't very high. The thing was caked with mud, dirt, and algae.
The plastic trim was pealing off, and the box it was in was mostly decomposed
and full of scary looking spiders.
I took it home anyways, and under all that muck I found that I had actually
picked up a 4' x 1' x 16" high, glass aquarium. (Calculates out to about
40gal) No cracks, just a bunch of scratches on the bottom that's going to be
covered with dirt anyways.
It didn't leak, but I could see some algae had been growing under the caulking.
So I've cleaned it all out, and all I have to do is wait for the new silicone
to cure and it'll be time to start setting up another tank.
I don't have any plan for what I want to do with this one. I just know it's
going to be a show piece in my living room. So, if anyone has any suggestions
I'd be glad to give you all the credit.
Jesse Doerr
