Ah yeah, these beasties. I know of a guy over near Poulsbo that has them breeding pretty well in his tanks. They won't eat shrimp or fish unless they are dead and don't breed unless there is an extreme excess of prey snails. So if you have say 1000 or more ramshorns the Assassins are gonna lay a ton of eggs but once those eggs hatch and the Assassins have gone through the prey snail population they will stop laying eggs and you'll have to substitute their diet with fish food, snail food, algae wafers and the like, they are pretty versatile when it comes to feeding, though they prefer snails. If you only get 1 you won't have to worry about overbreeding, even at 2 it is a complete 50% chance that yours will breed. They need a male and female in order to reproduce, unlike ponds snails. Just putting some background information out there, I'm already garenteed a few from a friend in WI as soon as hers breed.
