Maybe it's like keeping warm-growing orchids in cool, wet Seattle, but orchids grow from above the Arctic Circle to the equator and I find them easier to grow than many other plants. However, you have to pick the right genera/species for your conditions. My favorites are the hardy terrestrials you can grow right in your garden beds...Bletilla is the easiest. Right now I'd substitute Plumeria for orchids in your statement...struggling with those tropical beauties! Maybe I should just stick with koi and goldfish! HA!
