Hey Shango, Ever considered one of the Paradise fish instead?? I would gladly give you one of the youngsters Ive got, and I have to say I have been extremely pleased with how well they do in a bowl! I have kept one at work (in a large glass vase) for months, and keep having to bring in new ones because they keep going home with clients; everyone seems to just love how cute and frisky they are! They are quite beautiful in their own right, and easily trainable too. You want stripes? I got stripes. Or the super-blues? Got those too. ;+) I suppose a picture would help; let me know if you want one sent to you, since last time I tried to post a pic to the group it got rejected due to size. I know there is a way to downsize it small enough, but I confess I have yet to figure this little detail out. Besides, I figure I owe you for the ruckus about that plant you wanted aiuctioned before you left last Tues... just thought it wouldnt hurt to publicly admit I felt slightly guilty about that... even though it was for a good cause, ie the club! ;+) Oh and Phil, in case you are reading this - you mentioned you were having trouble getting your paradise fish to breed at the auction - I think I have figured out how to tell male from female; maybe you have all of one or the other, or the males are so busy arguing over the female that nobody has time to build a nest. The last pair I had that bred did so once I figured out who was flirting the most with who and I removed all the others... bingo, got a nest and fry a few days later. The other thing I have learned the hard way is the warmer the water the more likely they are to do their thing. I have resorted to keeping the mature ones separate these days, but have picked out two that I think I am going to put together soon...
