It's a common misconception that bettas live in small puddles of water because some have been found in them, they are more commonly found in the Kwongs and rice paddies, kwongs range from about 50-1000 gallons and larger and can be found with 2+ males in them. Even rice paddies are larger than what is normal considered, they can be anywhere from 10 sq ft to 50 sq ft and up and about 10-12 inches deep, lots of room for bettas in there. Their temperature is tropical and they tend to be lethargic in cooler waters. And that's not including the fact that these are wild bettas that live in such conditions and doesn't take into account the weaknesses that tend to show up when a fish is mass produced like bettas are, now the Thai breeds that cost 20-30 bucks each can actually do pretty well in an innadequate tank because they are bred very carefully, but why waste 25-35 bucks on a fish you're gonna put in a bowl? lol _______________________________________________ GSAS-Member mailing list GSAS-Member@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/gsas-member
