Amano shrimp can live long lives. I have one that's about the same age also,
a male. The females I had were also at least 4 years old before they
expired.

They also live way longer than I expected them to. I still have the male
from a pair I bought over 5 years ago....the female may still be in there
but I haven't seen her for awhile (densely planted/algae on tank sides).
The store (The Fish Store) where my coworkers bought their amano shrimp
said to expect 18 months max from them. I bought mine from Blue Sierra
(Issaquah).
