I totally understand Matt. I do however, have a chrysalis I found in the
dirt under a birch tree. I think it got knocked off the tree somehow. I
don't know how it got there, if it's alive or what. I did find some huge
grubs while digging the plot of new garden, living under the moss. I don't
think they're army worms and I'm not sure if this chrysalis is what they
are.

Please, leave the amphibians alone. Don't raise butterflies. Let them do
what they're designed to do.

 

You're not doing them any good by collecting them from their fragile
habitates.

 

Provide more terrain (native plants, and removal of exotic introduced
species), and you'll do better for them than bringing them indoors to gawk
at.

 

Sorry, just got back from Florida. What an eco-disaster that state is.
