[GSAS-Member] African Leaf Fish needs new home
Hi Club:
I received a nice note from Gwethalyn asking for help rehoming a African Leaf
Fish (ctenopoma sp?). As we learned in the badis talk, these fish are
piscivores and great for guppy infestations and the like. If you can take this
fish now, please contact Gwethalyn at the email or phone number below. If you
can transport the fish to the auction that would be great too.
If you think that ctenopoma A) make great snacks or B) should never be sold
ever, please keep the language civil. (Ate an angel fish?!?)

Subject: fish needs rehomed
Hello Paul Wallace, this is Gwethalyn Jones (seattle area veterinarian) and I
chanced upon the GSAS website and your name while looking up fish info.
I live on Whidbey Island and work in Lake Stevens. I am most likely interested
in re-homing an interesting fellow named Fat Albert, who is an African Leaf
Fish (ctenopoma sp?) who is peaceable and healthy but a complete glutton. I
believe he ate my favorite little african frog and a surprisingly large
angelfish. Fat Albert is eating me out of house and home, and can easily put
down his own weight in frozen bloodworms on a daily basis.
The local pet store would take him back, but I'd far rather place him with
somebody who isn't trying to make a buck. Suspect I could get a decent photo
and wonder could it go on bulletin board for your upcoming 4/18 meeting?
Am not looking for money; this is not a big-money fish, but I think him a bit
unique. Originally he was found at a PetSmart. I do not believe this species
should have visible ripples on its sides. No, I believe Albert is seriously
obese and is the only character in my tank who eats with such great relish.
He is a handsome leopard-spotted thing. I owe him a good home if I don't want
to keep him obese. I'd give him away, but alternately would love to trade him
for a Royal Farlowella. My last RF was Kevin. Fish are named for
ex-boyfriends.
enough said, if you can help me place this guy, it would be good for everyone.
thanks,
Gwethalyn Jones
