My pond is only two feet deep; a little deeper in the center. It has done
pretty well
over the years, even during the big freezes. Still, I wish I would have done
more
digging in the center. You get more water volume with the same liner (no extra
expense)
that way. Right now I'm thinking about putting another row of cement blocks on
the
sides so I can raise the water level - thereby making it deeper.
I think in your case you should aim for having a deep spot of five feet in the
center.
Then it will probably end up being only four feet - but that will make for
pretty good
temperature stability. And the big water volume will make it easier to keep the
water
quality stable.
