Wow you got a great deal on that tank; 54" wide is amazing; That's good news about Michael with Aquarist World; I've dealt with him on several occasions in the past back at King Discus and he was great to deal with; I'll swing by his store this weekend and check out that tank if he still has it; I'd prefer a 48" but 36" might work as well depending on what species of ray I end up with; there is a guy on Aquabid that has two black Leopoldis up for auction at $500 no reserve but when I emailed him he sent back pics which were great but he wants $ 2,000; Has anyone ever flown fish back within the US borders ie California to WA? I've got a ton of miles and can fly basically for free within the US; Thanks for the link to monsterfish those prices are great; glass tanks though, I prefer acrylic since its basically just me (wife is too small to be much help in moving large tanks); Thanks for your help, Jeff. -----Original Message----- From: gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Cory McElroy Sent: Thursday, November 12, 2009 11:02 AM To: gsas-member@thekrib.com Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] stingrays Are you set on the 48 inch depth? I know aquarist world, has or had a 9'x36x24 that was in pretty good shape, with corner overflows, that is in his back room. Your best bet is to keep touch with other people who are into big fish. They usually keep an eye on bigger tanks lol. I picked up my 305 gallon that is 72x54x18 from craigslist/a guy i knew who kept stringray. It only set me back 700. I had to do a repair on one seam. On craigslist though, I have seen a 600g that would have worked for you, and then there was that guy who had the shark tank also. He only wanted 2.5k for that setup. I'd check out www.Monsterfishkeepers.com. You can gather a lot of info about tank manufacturers. Check out this thread. This company has good reviews from lots of the members there, and prices are nice. You'd have to work out your own delivery/pickup. I always tell myself I'm gonna drive down to buy a tank from him when I'm ready for another new big one. But his prices can't be beat, and I know a lot of the monster fish keepers use his tanks. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272348&highlight=w ide+tanks > From: jeff@gotperk.com > To: gsas-member@thekrib.com > Date: Thu, 12 Nov 2009 08:55:54 -0800 > Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] stingrays > > Wow, thanks Cory; That's interesting about the live foods; I've got a friend > whom had a motoro for a couple of years but it was in way too small of a > tank (100 gallons) and eventually passed away; I've been going out for bids > on a new setup 84x48x24 acrylic with corner overflows which I will build > into my office wall; The bids have been all over the place though, 2,860 > from acrylic world, to 3,650 from acrylic aquariums.com; I scour craigs list > on a consistent basis but that wide of a tank is unheard of unless its from > a store display or another stingray keeper; Thanks for the info, Jeff. > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com > [mailto:gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Cory McElroy > Sent: Thursday, November 12, 2009 12:51 AM > To: gsas-member@thekrib.com > Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] stingrays > > > Getting the rays off live food is the hardest part.
