[GSAS-Member] Fw: Salmon carcass ID
For those of you ichthyologists or fish geeks who may be interested, there has
been debate over the identification of one of the salmon which returned to
Fauntleroy Creek (where Jack Lawless and I work with Coho salmon). Some have
suggested that it is a Blackmouth salmon due to the black (duh) mouth. That
would make it an Onchorynchus tshawytscha (Chinook) instead of O. kisutch
(Coho) which is what we have return to the creek.
See forwarded message below. Any comments?

Judy, et al.:
For those who wish to discuss the difference between Coho and Blackmouth I have
posted relevant photos at this site (my website has expired so I can't use that
anymore - pity):

If for some reason a person cannot view the pictures on that site I can send
copies to them directly on request.
I am also sending this to Dave C. and Bill M. as you suggested.
