Buy a drop checker like this:

The ADA runs $62 and a local member is making them for $5.  The ADA is sure 
pretty.

You should also build a bubble counter.  Again the ADA is $$$ and the DIY is a 
thing that seals + two holes.  Technology available in the heyday of theKrib!

I like to drill a hold one size small and cut the airline so I can thread half 
through and pull on the rest.

If you have a bunch of tanks a KH kit and a cheap pH meter may also be very 
useful.
