Here is a link to the fish you are describing below: Labidochromis caeruleus

Yellow lab market prices should be $5 or less. The more intense the yellow,
the better. Light yellow or faded yellow are poor quality, so are ones with a
lot of black and grey on the belly. I see yellow labs sold at Petsmart for
11.99 for a 2" size. Highest price I've seen. They are one of the common
"bread and butter" cichlids sold at pet stores. Most of the time, the ones
with lower black fins are males...few cases I've seen females have lower black
fins (they are usually white)
However there are other yellow mbunas you may consider, the fry are all yellow,
the female stays yellow, and the males turn blue as they matures. These are
harder to find at pet stores, but someone like me can get these thru group
orders.

If you'd like yellow tangayiki: I would recommend Leluipi

or some possible calvus or compressiceps;

I am planning on a group order in late April once weather thaws, I believe it
will be from Atlantis (http://www.cichlids.net/). The fishes will be shipped
via aircargo, same day shipping.

CONWAY PETS! I was just up there yesterday and he's got a great collection;
He breeds these bright yellow ones with a cool black stripe on their top
fin; Almost convinced me to switch as well!
