Hi Meg, sounds like your fish is showing his colors possibly indicating he's a
male. They are schooling fish and i would recommend that you get several more
of them. I have seen them at A Place for Pets in Burien (you can get a club
discount with your card). They may even spawn for you if you have lots of
surface plants for the eggs and fry to hide in. Water lettuce and water sprite
would be good.
