Re: [GSAS-Member] Black rubber "heater" hose from McLendon Hardware

I also use Vinyl and PVC and aim for "food safe" materials. I do run some
white PVC which is not potable water like the tan stuff and some ABS for a sump but I
wash them before they go in to service. If in doubt I run them on an empty tank to
flush. I would replace the hose ASAP.

Does the hose have a strong rubber odor? If it is not designed to be
used for potable water I would suspect it. Maybe it has some sort of
residual form release compound from the manufacturing process. That's
my 2 cents worth of wild speculation.

Has anyone ever used this type of pipe for plumbing their pump return

What kind of plastic is it?  Vinyl? ABS?  Neoprene?  Vinyl and PVC are about
all I will use for the tanks.
