Re: [GSAS-Member] Vinyl hose

I ran bleach through my python to kill some black algae or mold, plus any snail eggs. Somehow snails seem to leap from my shrimp tank into my other two tanks. I'm down to using the same pad to clean the algae and I've been picking them out as I see them. I don't transfer plants. I am going to try potassium permanganate and hopefully they'll all die before I add the plants to the new tank for the home show. I really only like the Japanese Trapdoor baby snails now, since I know they won't multiply like crazy, lay eggs everywhere or eat fish eggs.

I've used the vinyl hose from the Home Depot for years. They sell it by the foot. Clear vinyl.

For water changes, I find it hard to beat the Python 'no spill.' I'm a happy user for 20+ years (though, I did buy a new one when we moved out here 6 years ago, though the old one was discolored from algae, it still worked.)

RV supply sells potable water hoses. I wouldn't worry about brass fittings and shrimp, unless you're maintaining a constant flow of water through the fitting and have really poor brass. And I doubt shrimp are as copper sensitive as, say, corals.
