Hi folks, I tried to post this earlier, but I think the address was wrong. If you _did_ get it before, I'm sorry for repeating myself! I responded to James directly on this point before the list was set up, so I'll say it again for all who are on the list now. I suggested that this group come up with a specific plan, and submit the finished proposal to the AGA MC. When I see issues that I feel will be a concern of the MC, I will speak up. I suspect you and Erik will do the same. I'd be _very_ surprised if a project like this, being proposed and organized by an AGA member would be turned down by the MC. As far as funding is concerned, again, I don't think it will be a problem for the SC (steering committee) to approve it. Get a complete propsal done and submitted. Then it can be tweaked if there are specific concerns expressed by MC or SC members. >Judging: Depending on how many entries there are, maybe there should be >two rounds, with the first round judged by a panel of judges using a >scoring system and the final round judged by an on-line vote. >Alternatively, the second round could be judged by the same panel, with >the result of a popular vote serving as a vote on the panel. See my previous comment about online involvement. OTOH, it is not uncommon in club bowl shows to have a "popular choice" award. This could be done via the internet. I would see no problem having this in addition to the "formal" judging. >Promotion: I'd like to see the contest promoted beyond the limits of AGA >and APD. We also might be able to get the slicks involved. They're mostly pretty receptive to promoting the organized hobby. Karen
