I'm Canadian. In Canada, and I suspect in a lot of other countries, the word
"transparency", when used in relation to a physical photograph, is usually
clearly understood. The term "slide" probably comes from the way projectors
physically move the cardboard encased film clip into the image path.
Actually, I use either term, pretty much interchangeably.
But I don't wish to confuse anybody <g>. I suggest that both terms be used -
that way Americans and the rest of the world will understand. <g>
