First off, I understand that you might need to make decisions without
getting everyone's input, but you did say "consensus" of which there
definitely was not one...
I don't mean to be argumentative, but I don't understand what is so
difficult in telling businesses that are whining about not being on the list
"The organizing committee felt that your site doesn't have anything unique
to offer the entrants of the contest". Period.
James, have you ever thought of running for public office?  :-) No, I'm not
"violently opposed" to removing the commercial links, but they were
definitely a nice resource to have on there.  And by my count, there were
just as many people that voiced an opinion to keep them as voiced an opinion
to remove them.  If you still feel that they need to be remove, then, hey,
you and Erik are definitely the movers and shakers of this little group, but
could you explain it again?  I still don't understand exactly why it has to
be all or nothing...
