Based on the two times we've tried it, early registration doesn't really do anyting for us. Some folks early reg no matter what and the others are ones that very liekly would hhave regged anyhow. And it's not enough to provide any administrative convenience.

A few stragglers on the tail end is more of a pain, administratively.
