Well, that's good to know. I've been working on the impression the past 3 years that we have to have enough vendor donations to cover the prizes. Doesn't mean we should lighten up on getting donations though... :-)

I haven't had much help with the contest this year and will send out another blurb to get volunteers. Phil, if you need some additional help with the solicitations, please let me know and I'll take on some of those vendors. Bailin

"What are the Prizes? Ribbons and cash: $100 for 1st, $75 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd place in each category and class, plus $150 for Best In Show. Winners must be able to receive the cash award through PayPal. " From: S. Someone must receive them, store them, mail them out.
People could be sponsors of categories (if they weren't already sponsored) at something like $50 or $100 (or was it $10) and a full contest sponsor at somehting more (or whatever we could get). DFWAPC has come thorugh every year and sponsored a category or the contest.
As for cash awards they are given only via paypal and last year (unless memory fails me) we gave $100 for first plus $150 for best in show; $75 2nd place; $50 3rd place.
Although, this year, to save money I was thinking that maybe instead of cash we could buy and give away deeds to real estate or bank shares.

Any luck on your end for prizes? Be sure to contact DFWAPC as they have always sponsored a category in the past. I'm not sure about other clubs, but GWAPA might be another good organization that would be willing to sponsor a prize as well. As for the cash awards, I don't recall what we did in the past. If we give cash awards for each category, I would imagine that the amounts would be $100-1st, $50-2nd, $25-3rd. That would require that we have close to $875 or more to cover the prizes. If we can get some substantial cash donations, that might be possible, but I don't think that's a good idea. We might be hard pressed to come up with that amount given the current economic state. How about we just mention that awards will be given to the top tanks and disseminate the information closer to the end of the competition. Bailin

Are we still asking for the $100.00 cash donation for 1st? What have we done for Best of Show for the past two years? Thanks, Phil Insert movie times and more without leaving Hotmail®. See how. |
