Re: [AGA-Contest] Prizes

There is no assignable relationship between sponsor funds and awards. We're not asking anyone to sponsor an award but a contest category or the contest as a whole. WE take in what we take in, we pay what we promise. In a good year, the ink is black or only slightly pink.

We give out the awards regardless of contest income. Of course, if we lost lots of money on the contest, we might rethink how we did things in the following year (well, probably not). And if it helps a prospective donor to believe that her or his donation will in fact be the award money for acertain placement in a particular category, so be it, but the award amount will be no less than what we've stated.

I think that's what we have done in the past, but we did ask the vendors/clubs which category they would like to sponsor.

Did we just ask for whatever sort of contribution we could get and then split it up among the possible prizes?

For sponsorships, I think it was the number of categories that deterined the price, not the place.
