Yes and No. When you explained how you were dissapointed that you did not
have time to do more for the AGA, I realized that I should not feel guilty
about resigning... although I have hinted about doing this for the past
6-12 months, my decision was somewhat spontaneous. I hope my contributions
will be remembered, but it is now time to allow me to devote my free time
to other activities and to continue to promote the AGA in other ways. I
will be able to do some writting and may even be able to read the APD.

As Karen mentioned, Mary McCaw of the BAS said she might be interested in
become editor (Mary was sitting in the back seat of Karen's can, when I
somewhat spontaneously blurted out my decision to resign..... I then turned
around and asked her if she was interested).
I just got some good news. Mary McCaw emailed me to say that she has
decided to become the new editor!!! I told Mary that I will finish out the
year and work with her to ease the transition. Also, I might be willing to
stay on in some "executive" capacity... provided that it only involves
occasional review etc.

Actually, it was a little bit of a surprise. So, if you can't spend the
time needed to be chair, I suggest that a new chair be found. (Don't worry,
I am not volunteering <g>). When I first suggested the idea of a management
committee last year, I pointed out that many projects were falling thru the
cracks without someone specifically charged with cracking the whip. We also
need to have a planned succession for the various jobs. At this point in
the life of the AGA, we definitely need someone to be in charge. We appear
to be growing at a fast rate (800 members!!!)

I am REALLY dissapointed that Universal Printers did not send you the
proof copy as promissed. This means that the issue did not yet go out!! I
think it may be time to get a new printer too. With Mary in Boston area, it
may be best to find a printer up there. Bob Day is familiar with
requirements for a printer and he should be consulted. I have already sent
Bob a message and asked him if he would stay on and help Mary.
