During all my conversations with Gomberg, it is still not clear why we want to invest and have control. To maintain control, we may have to continue to put in more money. The end benefit? perhaps to make money? is that important to us? Do we have a long-term need for a fatter treasury to do what we want? On the other hand, in this venture, our stock control would give us some control over content. So far the expected content and type of ads seem OK for me. Might this change? maybe. Can we deside to divorce Gomberg then? sure. Will our membership follow us or jump ship for gomberg? That all depends on what AGA has to offer. As I said before, this is an OPPORTUNITY for AGA to sharpen its focus and give its members a reason to be. In conclusion, unless Dave's interest in AGA suggests otherwise, I think it might be best for AGA to not have any investment.... to have some agreement with Dave that our membership is ours and that he cannot make any direct mailings other than the distribution of PAM and that we offer to provide him input for the 4 or an occasional 8 pages to GIVE HIM an incentive for our members to accept PAM as one of the AGA vehicles for disseminating its news. I still think AGA should consider alternate communication vehicles. We have the AGA web site... and we might want to consider a quarterly or semiannual newsletter (to come out between issues of PAM). Such a newletter (2-4 pages) can be used for special announcements (little lead time is needed) or other member oriented material. many clubs have multiple publications. Note that I deleted all the old text. this keeps the size of the incoming message as small as possible. Also, if you cc aga0mcm, then you don't have to cc the individual members, unless you want them to get 2 copies. --Neil
