Several people seemed to like my suggestion for the title of the conference, however there were a few good constructive comments. I will try to summarize and tie everything together Mike pointed out that the acronym is the NAAPC.... not good! I also had second thoughts about calling it the "North American" Aquarium Plant Confernce... because this makes it sound like we are a NA organization - which we aren't- and it even sound like we might be talking about NA plants. Charlene commented that >>We can't discourage any of those foreign guys if they choose to come ahead this year now can we! and she added >>Using the same title yearly lets >>everyone know that it is our organization putting this on yearly for >>everyone's knowledge and benefit. Then Mike suggested: >What about just calling it the Aquatic Gardeners Asociation Conference? >Nice and simple and it says who we are and what we're doing. So how about a combination of our ideas: I would like to now propose: Aquatic Gardeners Association Planted Aquarium Conference or AGA-PAC for short. A longer version would be the 1st AGA-PAC... or AGA-PAC 2000. Karen said: >Claus felt strongly that >we needed to continue to use the "Summit" name to keep Amano on the hook. I agree 100% that we need a summit to get Amano (that was the name of his meeting) and also agree with her logic that a non-profit AGA can get him to pay his own way..... but disagree that we need to call our ANNUAL event an annual summit.... if anything that will take away from its specialness. I suggest that Next year our event can be the AGA-PAC 2001 and would be billed as occuring in combination with AGA hosting the "International Aquatic Plant Summit." If Europe does not follow suit in 2-3 years, then we can do it again. Much the same with the International Cichlid Convention (ICC) organized by the ACA.
