I would like to add my support for some form of voting rights for our membership. I belong to the AKA and participate in their balloting for BOD members and it seems to work fairly smoothly. I also think it is important that our members get a sense that there is more to being a member than getting TAG, and things like voting and getting discounts on books, conferences, etc. should be part of that. The republican-type of representation we are taling about here (as opposed to having members vote on every issue, ala a plebiscite) would tend to insulate the AGA from "takeover" attempts discussed elsewhere, especially if the elections were only once every 2 or 3 years and the terms were 5-6 years. Fortunately it seems like AGA participants have been willing to volunteer for such lengthy terms - Neil, for example. - Jack ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-mcm" in the body of the message.
