Haven't given an update on the archive for a bit. It's all bad news, unfortunately. On Saturday I had just finished every last issue of TAG and was working on cleaning up the look for the final CD, when I had a hard drive freakout, which killed all my original scans. ALL the work. Serves me right for doing too much at the same time. All that remains is the smaller sized "downscaling" I'd backed up to the website for you guys to view... through the end of 1997. This will make it a bit more difficult to OCR the bits I hadn't done yet, but not completely impossible. I've decided the best thing to do is to STOP for a while, burn a CD of what I have, and pick it up a little later. You can see what I currently have at http://www.aquatic-gardeners.org/TAGA On the other front, I have called John Cogwell for the third time (on the 21st); as always, he reacted with total surprise (disdain?) that I'd even bother calling, because the PDF's were "on the way... I should start seeing them Friday". I suppose I don't even need to finish the paragraph; you can guess how many PDF's I've gotten from Universal Printing. I may call him once more, since I lost all that data. But I am going on the assumption that they aren't going to give us squat. Last issue, and I'll go away. :) Mary, can we get PDF's or EPS, or ANYTHING, even source documents, for current issues of TAG as you're creating them? Is the printer still doing the final layout, or have you or Bob Day started doing that yourselves? - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com
