Hi Cheryl, I'd suggest one BIG difference in your response. Certainly thank him for his thoughts, and then ask if he's willing to help, or knows someone who could! I think it's important to do this with people who make suggestions for two reasons. First, it makes them know that we are NOT ignoring their ideas... we just have limited staff. Second, if they are looking for that little "push" to get more involved, sometimes this is all they need. VERY few people come forward, as Jay did, with a well-developed idea for how THEY can contribute to an organization. Most need at least a gentle nudge.
