Um... I thought we'd already agreed to that in the convention contract 
that seven of the donations would be diverted from the auction and set 
aside for contest prizes?  I know, not everyone is communicating with each 
other on this, but Scott has been pretty good to keep hammering the point 
home.  Last year it was completely lost on the planners, and when I 
finally was able to make the request clear, AT the convention, it was 
viewed with a degree of resentment on "both" sides... convention people 
felt the contest was "raiding" their income and refused.  Of course, I, 
primarily representing the contest (but also donating a HELLUVA lot of 
time and money to the convention) felt pretty darn slighted that they 
couldn't even set aside a couple hundred bucks worth of merchandise. 
Given that the contest is being used as a secondary draw to the 
convention, it would seem logical to me that the donations be shared. This 
year, Scott has been mentioning the arrangement at every opportunity, but 
I seem to have beat him to it this iteration!

Anyway, to your other question.  There are six categories, four sizes of 
aquatic gardens, plus paludarium and biotope.  The online people's choice 
category has never had an award, as it's frought with inaccuracy and 
ballot-stuffing.  But the at-conference people's choice sounds like 
something for an award!  Actually, this will be a first, all four judges 
will be present at the banquet.
