It has it's benefits -- the biggest one being in a case like this: the cashier is in a hurry with 10 people backed up at the counter and 4 of them asking questions at the same time and the money is taken for several purchases with the expectation that the it will be recorded later, but it doesn't get recorded, or not accurately. But we don't want to be unreasonable either (not even me) -- cashiering is a pita job anyway it's done, not to mention the extra annoyance for the patrons. If we sell a mix of items through a single cashier, we should accept single means of payment. The main thing then will be that transactions be recorded accurately. If I can impress that point on folks, then I will have fulfilled my fiduciary responsibility in this regard. But imagine getting, say $6,000 in receipts/records for various items and $6,350 or $5,480 in cash and checks that supposedly matches the money, all in one pile. How much of what did we sell? I can tell you that having been responsible in the for the management of the billion dollar main account of the ageny and in my current job for a half dozen $5k and $10k petty cash funds; the cash funds are the most trouble and most error prone. Okay, I'm off this topic now. I'm not it's not my place to "run" the cash management for the convention. I just want to impress the point about being able to keep track of our business. thanks, sh sh --- Cheryl Rogers <cheryl@rightstuffwebsites.com> wrote: > So if someone wants to walk-up and register, and buy a > t-shirt, they have > to make one check out to AGA2K4 (or whatever) for the reg > and/or banquet, > and another check out to AGA for the t-shirt.
