I think you need to try to have talks to satisfy a range of interests... If
someone doesn't want to see a particular talk, they are always welcome to
visit in the hallway or whatever... This certainly happens at general club
conventions... The rift lake cichlid people rarely want to sit through the
"breeding fancy guppies" talk.  But both groups have their followings.

There will ALWAYS be people attending our conference who are still on the
lower rungs of the skill building ladder, and I think it is very important
to have something appropriate to their current needs as well as having talks
that give them something to aspire to.
