Brief and honest feedback from your photographer.
AGA 2004 Convention was a great success and I want to deeply thank GWAPA
(especially Ghazanfar,Rick,Sean) and AGA for all the prep work. After seeing
how much work went into making this event so successful, I would think twice
about volunteering as a host. Mr. Amano, Mr. Bedmaijster and Mike Senske
provided top quality presentations. Oliver Knott workshop was OK.
Unfortunately I missed Paul's workshop so I can't comment on it. Diana
Waldstad's presentation was not "entertaining" at all. I don't think she is a
good speaker and her communication skills are questionable. Her book and her
knowledge is questioned by many but I guess its up to individual.
Trip to Aquarium, Barnes&Nobles and Aquarium Center was well organized.
Thanks again !!!
This convention was more intense than Dallas. Is it good or bad, I don't
know. I know that I lost few pounds for sure. I was able to relax more on the
West Coast then in Washington. I was eating only once or twice daily and
running around like maniac. Maybe because I took 3 gigs of pictures? Maybe
b/c I was pulled in 10 different directions by friends and my paisan from
Poland?
I want to thank everyone who came in contact with Marian Wojtaszek and had
enough patience to give him brief attention. I had a full time job
translating but it wasn't that bad after all.
As you probably know saturday night in Senke's room was a blast. Amano
personally asked Marian to have a beer with him and wanted to spend some time
with him alone (including Tomoko and me as translators). I was shocked.
Unfortunately Bar was closed so we were forced to go to Senske's room. That
didn't stop Amano from giving complements to Marian on his tank
(paludarium/aqurium-biotope entry) and mentioning "hundred" times that his
tank was #1 in that category. I was shocked again. They took some pictures
together and had a 3-way conversation (japanese-enlish-polish) which was very
interesting. He pointed out that when he went to Poland he was welcomed by
300 individuals waiting for his presentation (Poland 40million population).
He didn't say a word about AGA attendance but I noticed few people were
scratching their heads after that comment.
Mr. Amano asked for copies of my pictures and opportunity to see my
photography work. I couldn't ask for more from this Convention.
I had a blast !!!!!!!!! This will be a hard one to match.
Regards,
Jay Luto
