Whatever we do, I suggest we settle on an established
system even if it is one we establish ourselves. If
software is involved, I think we need someone that knows
the software on hand. The hardware config should be as
simple to setup and operate as possible, which doesn't
necessarily mean the simplest hardware.

It would be great to capture also such info as what kind of
thing the item was, at least plant vs equip. If we could
tag the numbers somehow to indicate silent vs live auction,
that would be helpful too. E.g, the silent items all have
numbers greater then 500 or some such thing.

It helps in susbsequent planning, I believe. E.g, silent
items seem to mive for less avg price per item but the
volume is greater. Enough to make a positive or neg diff?
Can't tell unless we track that info.
