I'm surprised that people thought the comments were excessively negative.
I'd like to hear what some of you thought. I thought we tried to give
constructive criticizm. I know I was not the only one who mentioned
several
times that a case could be made for many of the tanks being "the winner".
But if you don't get nit-picky, there is no way to justify picking one
tank
over another.
I thought we were able to emphasize what judges LIKED about their
particular favorites this year, as they were all there in person. In
previous years, I've had to rely on replaying back comments from absent
judges, and they weren't necessarily on the aquascapes they liked in
particular. I'll have to listen to it all again & see how it plays from
the other side of the podium.
But I think the whole "negativeness" is perpetual and also unavoidable.
The #1 tank in some gategories WERE tanks that none of the judges really
liked best. So there will be some negative comments. Either we don't
say anything at all, or there's going to be some negativity. Maybe I
needed to say that at the beginning. Oh well.
PS: Those people who saw the thing in person may have complaints about
me rushing on ahead, but those who only see the DVD will have no such
complaints. Just as I edited out all of Diana's accidental backups on
her slides, I will be editing out all of my accidental move-aheads.
